I put the 5th part of Shadows of the Past up over the weekend but didn't get the chance to tell you lovely people.  Chapter 5: Deals What do you think of the story so far? Is it ticking the boxes for you?

Shadows of the Past Chapter 4

Today's publishing day for chapter 4 of Shadows of the Past:  Visitors ! After Elna was captured last chapter, you'd think she was at least allowed a good night's sleep, right?  WRONG!  Discover who wants to talk in the dead of night, and what haunts the Talon's dreams in chapter 4.  The Secret Origin Of Elna's World I just wanted to drop some background for this piece, as I'm getting very much involved in building the world at present. I think a novel set in Elna's world would be really cool to create. Like so many of my ideas, this began as a roleplaying campaign idea... or rather two roleplaying ideas. The first was a game modelling novels like Assassin's Apprentice, with the idea that the PCs would be a set of agents fighting to prop up the King. They wouldn't be loyal to the country but the monarch, and many of their adventures would have been bittersweet affairs where they moved to prevent the nobles from revolting. The second idea was the mor...

Roleplaying Character: Anthony Fergus McGregor (for Trinity Continuum)

"You're one of the laddies working for the Hunts, aren't you? A wee scunner making his living off other people's pain... Go on, scream, nobody'll hear you, or if they do, by the time they get here, it'll be too feckin' late!" Background: Born into a military family, with a long history of serving in the British Armed Forces, Anthony grew up in Drumchapel, Glasgow, in a house made cold by his father's deep reserve after the first Iraq War. The boy never knew what had happened, though people talked about Gulf War syndrome and PTSD, as if that made any real change to the bouts of sullen sulking, violent outbursts and feeling that his father may have gone to war but a stranger had taken his place. Only his uncle, Daniel McGregor was a saving grace, providing enough guidance that the lad didn't go to pieces, and often restraining his brother - Antony's father. As the boy got older Daniel would take him down the pub, telling him about the thin...

Autumn

Hi, I managed to get too busy and too overwhelmed to keep going with my original blogging scheme for the year, so took a break. I might pick up posting characters again, but stick to that - that way I have more reasons to make characters for the oodles of games I seem to have picked up recently - most from the  Trinity Continuum . I've always been interested in the games and owned the first editions for a while. I have a particular love for the Adventure! incarnation, partly because I have a love of Pulp and felt the  Planetary  comic by Warren Ellis was a perfect model for the game which combined two things I love in one neat package. Add in some global conspiracies and the like, and I'm a happy person.  I'm reading the Aether setting, for Victorian or Steampunk games, and find myself torn over the fact that it's doing some really cool stuff but also features a lot of established heroes from the fiction of the period, which feels a bit like a waste. I guess Ad...

Part 3 of Shadows of the Past is up!  Spiral of Grief  takes us deeper into the action at the castle, revealing that not everything is as it seems, and provides some idea of what Elna's past might be.  Check it out!
